Shaping National Priorities in a Continental Economic Strategy

A national ministry of social development was invited to contribute to the African Union’s Ten-Year Social and Solidarity Economy Strategy, a project involving coordination across dozens of countries and multiple stakeholder groups. The ministry needed to ensure that its national priorities were effectively represented in the final strategy.

We conducted an economic impact assessment of the ministry’s proposed policies, facilitating inter-ministerial workshops to build consensus and refine technical inputs. Our team supported the drafting of submissions to the continental working group, ensuring alignment with both national objectives and broader regional goals.

The ministry’s contributions were integrated into the final continental strategy, with several national priorities adopted as regional benchmarks. The process strengthened the ministry’s capacity for international engagement and set a precedent for future cross-border policy collaboration.
